Child Abuse Prevention
On April 13 2009, the First Selectman of Madison and the Board of Selectmen recognized the Exchange Club of Madison efforts to end child abuse by proclaiming April as Child Abuse Prevention Month for the town. In the video below, long standing member Bill Lawlor accepts the Proclamation on behalf of the Club and discusses some of the programs of service we bring to Madison.
On December 2 2010, Charlie Corso and Frank Richo delivered toys donated by members of Madison Exchange to Kidsafe CT in Rockville. Kidsafe CT was established by former Rockville Exchange member, Jerry Bundy, and has a close relationship with Exchange Clubs in Connecticut. Every year, Madison Exchange members buy toys out of their own pockets to fulfill Christmas wish lists for children who are receiving service from Kidsafe CT. In addition to the Parent Education In-Home program, Kidsafe CT provides counseling for families, divorce mediation, parent coaching, mentoring, anger management for adults and children, stress management for women and transportation services. Kidsafe CT is a court approved supervised visitation site and has an outreach and mentoring program for at-risk youth in Rockville.
